"I love puzzles and solving problems. I don't believe there are straight paths to anywhere and have always been comfortable with the turns life takes. I fell in love with photography as a happy coincidence. I have always tried to do things in my life and career that make people feel good about themselves. This passion led to me becoming a hairstylist for nearly a decade in California so I could show people how great they could feel with a great style. When we moved to Utah, I shifted careers to banker so that I could help people confident and feel good about their money. I spent 20 years as a VP at a major bank cultivating valuable skills such as customer service, coaching, education, networking and money management. My creative brain was not happy with this choice in career, despite the stability it provided so I began photographing part time and it was phenomenal how much it lifted my soul. Nearly everyone I knew hated having their photo taken so I felt compelled to figure out what makes a great photo and how to make people look good in a photo. My degree in graphic design helped me understand the basic elements but I wanted more so I spent years educating myself specifically in photography and played with my camera every chance I got. After a few years, I quit the corporate job and went full time with my photography. The first time I saw someone's face that hated having their photo taken see a photo I had taken of them and they lit up - I knew I did the right thing!"

Brook recently did professional head shots for me; which I love. She put me at ease during the shoot, and gave great instructions on how to look natural and bring out my best features. The results are better than I expected. She is knowledgeable, kind, patient, funny and timely. What else do you want in a photographer?
Brook takes the time to capture the emotions of memories being made with everyone participating in a "big day." We celebrated a 50 year wedding anniversary with my husband's parents and family. It was a surprise for them, which all of our siblings were able to come. Our memories by photo includes our parents, the family, individual families, single shots of grand kids and spouses.
Brook is a skilled professional who is very creative. It is obvious that she loves her work. She is a joy to be around. The result is photos that are not only beautiful, they are interesting and charming. She makes certain that they are memories, not just boring mugshots. I highly recommend that you contact her for any professional photography you need.
I had the best time during my photo shoot. I walked away with fabulous pictures appropriate for both business and to send out to family. Brook does a fabulous job and is very skillful with those who don't feel like they are very photogenic.
We use Affinity for all of our event photos! She is amazing, not only her pictures, but her personality and animation as well! We love having her talent and fun at our venue! Thank for everything you do Brook!
Brook is amazing to work with! She did a amazing job on our engagements, I am so looking forward to the pictures she will take for my bridals and wedding. If you are looking for some one amazing to work with. I highly recommend calling!
What does the process look like to get a session scheduled?
Discuss with the photographer what type of session you are looking for, the location you want, and who will be involved.
Agree on pricing and package you want.
Schedule a date and time for the shoot.
Then the fun begins with our portrait session!
What can I expect once the photo session is complete?
I will send you the raw photos via an online gallery within 2 business days. You will then go into the gallery and choose your designated number of favorites for me to edit. Notify us when you have completed your selections and we will get started on editing. Once the final edits are complete (within 14 days), I will send you an email with the final gallery for you to download, share and order prints as you desire.
How long will my portrait session take?
I wish there was a definitive answer for this question but it really depends on how quickly I can get the shots I need. I do attempt to get the session done efficiently so that you can get back to whatever you would rather be doing. :)
Do you have any tips for taking better portraits?
1. Relax, this should be fun!
2. Wear something flattering with some color and bring a few easy changes of clothing.
4. Wear makeup to your liking for a date night.
5. Don’t look directly at the lens of the camera, look at the top of it or just to the side (avoids red eye especially if you have blue or green eyes).
6. Never face shoulders straight on with the camera (this looks awkward and not flattering to anyone).
7. Make small movements in all directions with the head and body - you never know which angle will look the best and catch the best light.
1. Keep your eyes on the photographer unless instructed otherwise, try not to be distracted - the faster we can get everyone looking together, the quicker the photo session will be and it will result in better quality photos (turning heads can create blur).
2. Try to wear matching or coordinating colors for photos to be more cohesive.
3. Parents look at the photographer no matter what your child does unless asked by the photographer because inevitably by the time the child looks at the photographer, the parents are looking at the child.
